Emil And The Detectives
Erich Kästner
If Mrs Tischbein had known the amazing adventures her son Emil would have in Berlin, she’d never have let him go.
Unfortunately, when his seven pounds goes missing on the train, Emil is determined to get it back – and when he teams up with the detectives he meets in Berlin, it’s just the start of a marvellous money-retrieving adventure . . .
A classic and influential story, Emil and the Detectives remains an enthralling read.
From November 16th 2013, an exciting new adaptation of Emil and the Detectives will be playing at the National Theatre in London.

This book is about a man who stole money from a child named Emil. Emil was supposed to bring £7 to his grandma and meet his cousin called Pony. The man got arrested but Emil needed help from quite a lot of other children called The detectives. It’s interesting because children can be good detectives.

This story was o.k. Some bits were really good and others dragged on a bit. The idea of the story was great and I really liked the character of Emil.

This book is about Emil, a young boy sent to Berlin, with some money for his grandmother. On the train, a man is acting mysteriously; the next thing he knows, both the man and the money have gone! By reading this book, you can join the chase, when Emil and his friends assemble to track down the thief. This book is fun, action and adventure packed and keeps you turning the pages. I would highly recommend this book to readers of all ages.

I think this book is good. The thing that it makes you remember is not to look at your money in public. I like detective books a lot

This was a fictional story, a tale of mystery and intrigue. Emil is on his way to visit his Gran in Berlin when his money is taken by a fellow train passenger. Along with a group of equally determined children he meets in Berlin, he manages to follow the thief and retrieve his money. I liked the way the all the main characters in the story were children as it made it easier to relate to. Yes, I would recommend the book.

I liked the book. It is about Emil who has some money stolen and then tries to catch the thief. my favourite character is Gustav, the leader of the boys, because of how he used his motor horn. I would recommend it to someone else
