Ahead of a big author visit, Humphrey and his friends try writing their own stories, but Humphrey worries that hamsters don’t have any imagination; he’s finding creative writing just too hard. While he helps out his friends, and the new school guinea pig, Gigi, Humphrey encounters real, live parrots, dragons and even ghosts . . . and finally manages to let his imagination soar.

This book was AMAZING! I had so many favourite characters! They were Humphrey (obviously), Og, Gigi, Stop-Talking-Sophie, Just-Joey, Rolling-Rosie and Slow-Down-Simon in this book. Humphrey because he is always very helpful and thoughtful. Og because he is always very supportive. Gigi because she found courage and is not as scared of things as she used to be. Sophie because she learnt how to tell her family what she thought about them not all being together. Joey because at the start he didn't believe that he could write a proper story, but in the end he probably wrote the best (not including Humphrey's one)! Rosie because she was extremely kind, useful and encouraging towards Joey when she helped him write his story and they both had heaps of fun on the weekend with each other and Humphrey (apart from when Humphrey nearly rolled onto the road!). And Simon because I found him really funny saying he wants to go to Italy just to eat the lovely food there. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fictional stories about friendship and animals. My favourite chapters were the ones where Humphrey was staying over at Sophie's house, because it was just lovely seeing him inside a doll's house, like it was his own miniature house! As previously mentioned, I also liked it when Sophie told her parents about what she thought about them not being together as a family. Also, I thought the surprise at the end was an excellent one!

I love all the Humphrey books. In this one, all the children at Longfellow school write stories using their imagination. Humphrey helps the students he goes home with.

It is really funny because Humphrey thinks dragons are real after reading a book.

In this book Humphrey finds it hard to use his imagination to write a story like the rest of the children in room 26. However, with all of his classmates writing long paragraphs, Humphrey knows that he mustn’t give up whatever it takes. Humphrey visits Gigi, a first form class guinea pig, every night and soon they are firm friends. In the end, Humphrey writes an amazing story and he reads it to Og the frog and Gigi.
