The Kingdom of Izzambard is in trouble. Big trouble.
Griselda, the Master Clockmaker, has stopped time and released her mechanical birds to spread chaos and misery. They spy on anyone who might believe in the old ways of magic and laughter and the whole kingdom lives in fear.

A man hides a sleeping key under his hat.It is an adventure story. It's exciting and I think it's suitable for age 7-8. It was a little bit scary in places because one of the characters is evil!

This adventure story made me smile, iwith its gentle humour and its Dahlesque use of language. I think it would make a great class read for Year 3s, although many children, in lower KS1 particularly, will enjoy reading it for themselves. Leo and Ella are siblings. They have just moved house and the new place is boring. But that's before they discover the secret railway; before they meet friendly (Prince) Barty, evil clockmaker Griselda, lovely librarian Petunia Olive, and other colourful characters in 'the other world'. Come with them as they try to return some of the Old Magic to the Kingdom of Izzambard and restore things to their correct order, without getting stuck there forever.

This is a good book but it's also a little boring. It's about 2 extraordinary kids discovering a secret railway. It's good for early reader but if you want something a little challenging if not recommend. If you are planning to read, enjoy

I thought is was funny and entertaining to read. It was fiction story . My favourite person was Ella Leo's sister . I would personally recommend it to my friends .

The book was so confusing and interesting. My favourite character was the wired talking vacuum cleaner. It was very interesting because of the humming magnifying glass.

It is a fiction book. It’s about magic and an adventure book. My favourite character was Ela. I would recommend it to people.

This book was good because when Ella and Leo were in the workshop they discovered a door and Leo said that 1611 was not a time and then he thought that it was a passcode or the door to open and then it did open and there was a railway even though there shouldn't be trains because the station was old and there were no more trains. But then a train came and a prince was driving it and they had lots of adventures with him trying to get a magnifying glass, that Ella thought was a mirror, back to where it belonged.

I liked this book because the boy and girl went on a adventure to a queen to give her back her magnifying glass. It was a great story and I hope everyone else will too.
