From the author of the international phenomenon War Horse comes a moving story of unity and inspiration in the face of war.

A moving story about unity and inspiration in the face of destruction, by the 2003–2005 Children’s Laureate and author of the internationally acclaimed War Horse. Tomas hates school, hates books and hates stories. Forced to visit the library, he stops to listen to magical tales that the Unicorn Lady spins. These tales draw him in and are about to change the course of his life for ever… Set against the backdrop of war-torn Europe, I Believe in Unicorns explores the power of stories to transform lives.

My favourite character was the unicorn lady because I liked the stories she told. I really liked it when the unicorn lady, Father and Tomas saved the books and the unicorn from the burning library. I would recommend this book to a friend.

I liked this book because it was a mystical book but it had real life stories that were being told also. My favourite character was The Unicorn Lady and Thomas. Thomas reminded me of myself because of the ways he described his mum in funny ways and that he ended up really enjoying reading. The illustrations were very detailed and showed parts of the story really well. I think I would definitely recommend this book to people that like mystical and history stories and ages 8-12 years maybe.

This book is very active, especially as it brings on a fire. As the local library burns down, the kids rescue all the books and a special wooden unicorn. Put it on the top of your wish list!
