The Ellie McDoodle Diaries 1: Best Friends Fur-Ever
Ruth McNally Barshaw
When her teacher assigns a report on animals, Ellie is stumped about what kind she wants to research. Then a neighbor goes on vacation and asks Ellie to pet-sit for her parrot, Alix. Perfect--exotic bird it will be! Unfortunately, Alix flies the coop – literally. But when Ellie can't lure him back on her own, it will take clever teamwork from a librarian, a zookeeper, some good friends and Ellie's own pet-obsessed family to save the day.
Reviews

This book was a spectacular book and I really liked it because there are little activities that you can do in between, and fun jokes as well. My favourite character was Ellie because she tries her best to make everything perfect but she realises she can make everything perfect with her family. I would recommend this book to people who like books that don't like chapters and like books that are diaries for people.

Alix the parrot kept saying hilarious things and Ellie realised that Risa had snuck in a kitten.

I thought this book was really funny and it was interesting to see how Ellie coped with her annoying siblings' tricks. The parrot in the book was so funny, and it was very extrodinary that it managed to escape! This book was really great and I recommend it to General Cnyrhia Armadillo.
