I've only read the first book (though I have read the graphic novels) of this but I loved it and my next book will probably be the next one (The Lost Heir, about Tsunami) This book starts of with a good introduction on different types of dragon (my favourite type is MudWings) and then has a poem that the book is mainly about... The Dragonet Prophecy. (When the war has lasted twenty years... the dragonets will come. When the land is soaked in blood and tears... the dragonets will come. Find the SeaWing egg of deepest blue. Wings of night shall come to you...and so on.) It starts off with Kestrel snapping orders at Clay (as he is doing fighting practise) It is mentioned that Kestrel said to be the monster inside you who you showed when you hatched, because when Clay hatched his was the first one to hatch and was tumbling over the eggs, but near the end he finds out he was just trying to help the other dragonets come out of their eggs, which was the egg Tsunami was in. Anyway... the dragonet prophecy was made of five dragons, Starflight (NightWing) , Sunny (SandWing and my second favourite character), Tsunami (SeaWing) , Clay (MudWing, and my first favourite character), and Glory (RainWing... The story is that there was a SkyWing egg but then Burn 'accidently dropped the egg' and it broke (she had meant to kill it) so they got a RainWing egg, RainWings are known for being lazy, so there were five dragonets.) So yeah, that was why Kestrel (One of the dragons who had raised the dragons) said things like 'Don't be a lazy RainWing.... so anyway She was gonna KILL Glory and what had to be done was that they were gonna escape so Glory didn't die, but Clay had to risk HIS life because Tsunami could breathe underwater but she was tied up and for the plan they had to go through water and Clay had to do it because he could hold his breath for and hour... so he went and then Tsunami got free and swam up the find him but then they accidently made Queen Scarlet follow them and then she had the five dragonets in control and they were her prisoners and went to the Sky Kingdom and had to fight in the arena and Clay made friends with somebody called Peril who burnt any dragon she touched because she got double power because she got power from hey twin who was in the same egg.... but then they went away because they realised they could find Clay's family and they get there in the right place (well, Clay and Glory) and find Cattail, Clays mother and she explained to Clay that Asha, Cattails sister had taken his egg for the prophecy because nobody cared about the egg he was in and Cattail was not delighted when Clay came back but then Clay found his siblings and thats basically the end.

This book is an incredible storyline as it shows an outcast in the world of dragon. My favourite character was clearly Peril as she gives up everything to help family and friends. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure and have plenty of time - this book grips you from start to finish!

A brilliant start to a even better series. I love how its written and the story line, takes you to a whole new world. My favourite character is hard to pick as I have several but if I had to choose one it would be Sunny as she is always optimistic and has faith in everyone around her. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy and dragons.
