Shabba me whiskers! It’s one of those Mr Gum books by Andy Stanton. They’re only the craziest, funnest most amazing books for children in the world.

Mr Gum and the Power Crystals Can it really be true that there’s an ancient curse on the town of Lamonic Bibber? And you guessed it, that old roo-de-lally Mr Gum and his trusty sidekick Billy William the Third have something to do with it. But . . . our favourite heroes Polly and Friday and the gingerbread biscuit Alan Taylor (only 15.24 cm tall) are determined to save the town (sigh of relief).

Hang on to your heads and prepare to chuckle like a chipmunk as you’re whisked to the land of talking dogs, silly songs, Old Granny, and the best chase scene you’ve ever seen.

Mr Gum and the Power Crystals is the fourth book in the internationally best-selling series by Andy Stanton, which has won everything from the Blue Peter Book Award (twice) the Roald Dahl Funny Prize and the Red House Children’s Book Award.

Praise for Mr Gum:

`Smooky palooki! This book is well brilliant!’ – Jeremy Strong

`Worryingly splendid’ – Guardian NOT FOR BORERS!

You’re a Bad Man, Mr Gum was selected as a Tom Fletcher Book Club 2017 title.

It was a good book but it wasn't very surprising.I loved the part when the granny pulled Polly into the tree and told her about the power crystals and the windmill and what would happen if they put them into the places in the windmill and how it would burn down the village.

Other children should read this book because it is a funny and scary genre. Here is a summary about what happens in the book.Polly was walking through Lamonic Bibber and she found pretty crystals on the floor she got them and went home and went to sleep. In the middle of the night Polly had a bad dream and went back to sleep. The next morning Polly went to her box where she put the crystals and the crystals were talking to her saying go back to place where you got me and put me back on the floor Polly must have been crazy. Later on she went to put the crystals back she found a windmill which wasn't there before and then she saw Mr Gum and his no good partner Billy William inside the windmill and she went to granny's but Granny wasn't at her house. Later on she went to the windmill and went inside not afraid and saw Granny underground where Mr Gum put her and then Granny told Polly to get out because Mr Gum was up to no good as always.and that is what happened

I really enjoyed Mr Gum and the Power Crystals because just in the middle of it, the book told me some facts about or to do with science.
