Could life for the Baudelaire orphans possibly get any worse? In a word, yes. Dear Customer, I hope, for your sake, that you have not chosen to listen to this tape because you are in the mood for a pleasant experience. If this is the case, I advise you to put it down instantaneously, because of all the volumes describing the unhappy lives of the Baudelaire orphans, this might be the unhappiest yet. Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire are sent to Paltryville to work in a lumbermill, and they find disaster and misfortune lurking behind every log. These include, I’m sorry to inform you, such unpleasantries as a giant pincher machine, a bad casserole, a man with a cloud of smoke where his head should be, a hypnotist, a terrible accident resulting in injury, and coupons. I have promised to record the entire history of these three poor children, but you haven’t, so if your customers prefer stories that are more heartwarming, please feel free to make another selection. With all due respect, Lemony Snicket

I have the whole set of these books and I wish there was more this book was very good I thought that it was probably one of the best books I’ve ever read and I also think the twist is really good. It is definitely a good book. I’m starting to read the next one the Austria Academy and I hope is it is as surprising as this one.

It was similar to the others, but it was more similar to the first one because of how gory it was!

This book is about three orphans(Violet,Klaus and Sunny) as they endure hard labour while their distant relative,Count Olaf, attempts to get their deceased parents fortune. They had been staying at their aunt Josephine’s before Count Olaf caught them and fed her to the fish. The Baudelaire children were moved to a Lumber Mill where Count Olaf tries to get to them yet again. My favourite thing about the book is how the children all work together and crack the mystery.

It is really good but if you don't like sad things don't read it. The characters have miserable lives.

I like this book because it is very interesting and i just like the fact that it makes you want to continue the story and read more. Also the author has a lot of description and makes you really hate some characters.

l think that this book is an amazing book and that everyone should read it. I'ts a story of love and hate, hope and despair. It also shows what people will do for money. It shows that life isn't made of butterflies, that there are hard times that you have to get threw. But most of all, l think that it shows that we need each other to live.

this may be the most miserable book yet! The fourth book in the series once again involves plenty of misery and sadness, hypnotism and broken glasses, and, of course, Count Olaf. Can the three Baudelaire children escape from treacherous Dr Orwell, and her dodgy receptionist, Shirley in time?

This is a miserable book where the three children are working in the mill and they are only paid in coupons, they get only bubble gum for breakfast and lunch! They only get a small curry for dinner! My favourite character is Sunny because she had to sword fight with a hypnotist that hypnotized their brother!
