Thorfinn and the Awful Invasion
David MacPhail, Richard Morgan
Prepare yourself for the wrath of the Norsemen! That is, if you don’t mind and it’s not too inconvenient…
Everyone knows Vikings are ruthless barbarians whose idea of a good time involves pillaging, plundering and feasting. But Thorfinn is no ordinary Viking! He is always polite and happily offers to wash the dirty dishes. Too bad his dad is Harald the Skull-Splitter, Village Chief and the roughest and toughest Viking of them all.
Tired of Thorfinn and his too-nice ways getting them into trouble, his dad decides it’s time for Thorfinn to earn his gruesome Viking name. Stuck on a longboat with a ragtag bunch of adventurers who’d like to throw him overboard, how will the Nicest Viking cope with a dangerous voyage to Scotland?
Thorfinn the Nicest Viking is a funny, illustrated, action-packed new series for young readers which bridges the gap between Horrid Henry and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, set in a world where manners mean nothing and politeness is pointless!
Reviews

This book is my least favourite of my whole life! I don’t like it because it doesn’t make any sense and it stops at a very weird time. The only reason why I gave it two stars is because it has a lesson in it. Be kind. The book is about a Viking who is very nice but he keeps giving the other vikings up on the voyage.

I like finding out what Thorfinn's viking name was going to be.

I liked Ragnar holding his name upside down. I enjoyed this book and found it funny.
Inspector Ice-T Custard 10.08.2021

I like the character of Percy the Pigeon who is Thorfinn's (the lead character) pet. He is very unusual because he is a polite Viking unlike the others. I've read four books in this series and they are very exciting.

I would recommend this book because it was interesting how Thorfinn was different to all the other vikings. I liked reading about his invasion and how he got his Viking name.

Thorfin is a rubbish Viking because he is too nice, he gives people scones instead of fighting them. A funny book and you can work out your own Viking name!

Ok.

My favorite part was when Thorfinn taught the vikings how to be good people. And again,my least favorite thing...is nothing! Although it didn't make me laugh,I still ADORE it.

If you like "How to train your dragon" books you will like this book too. My favourite part is when the horn falls on the dog's head and it looks like a unicorn (I call it a unidog). The book has a funny warning on the back saying, "WARNING DON'T READ THIS BOOK IF YOU DON'T LIKE LAUGHING OR CHEERING - RAAAAR"

It's a very funny book about Vikings. I especially like the bit when the horn lands on the dog's head. I like to call it a unidog.

Thorfinn is a clever Viking. The others are silly at times.

It is very humorous and made me laugh! It is an adventure story about Thorfinn a Viking that is too nice. It is a problem for their Viking village because Vikings are normally ferocious and ruthless but Thorfinn isn't...
