I really like the My Story series and I have been borrowing them one by one from my local library. This is the diary of Victorian girl Eliza, who is sent to work in the Manchester Cotton Mills when her family needs money. It is a very vivid account which highlights the life of the many Victorians who relied on the cotton mills to survive and I really enjoyed it. Sue Reid makes you feel as if the story were actually Eliza's diary, and I like that about her writing style. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction, like me.

this was a really good book about a victorian girl, fighting to survive. its an amazing diary of a 13-14 year old girl and if you are looking for a book to read, this is definitely the book to read! there is a whole collection of these books, but I've only read mill girl. I can't wait to see if I can find any of the other books in this collection, and if I do, I will Read them straight away! Enjoy!
