The sisters of STREET CHILD tell their story…

A companion novel to bestselling story of orphan Jim Jarvis set in Victorian England. When Jim Jarvis is separated from his sisters, Lizzie and Emily, he thinks he will never see them again. Now for the first time, the bestselling author of STREET CHILD reveals what happened to his orphaned sisters. In Victorian London, Lizzie and Emily are left in the care of a cook but their story takes them to the mills of northern England. There, under the keen eyes of the mill owners, the girls are made to work in harsh conditions and any chance of escape is sorely tempting… An incredible new STREET CHILD story based on the true experiences of Victorian mill girls.

This story is sorrowful. But I was interested to know the end.

I thought that it started sad then got better and then took a turn again and they went of to the mill where they weren’t treated to well. When Bess died I was touched that Lizzie went to see her in her grave. Lizzie’s accident was probs the best time of her life as she was with Sarah.

It was a very good companion book to Street Child. My favourite character was Sam and my favourite chapter was Fire at the Mill because it was scary and exciting!

After I finished reading this, my heart got warm and I was relieved. I recognized that there were many miserable homeless orphans long ago. Maybe nowadays there are still a lot in poor countries. We should consider them deeply and do something quickly! What can I do? I noticed once more if you keep your dream, you can make it surely!

In the sequel to Street Child we turn to Lizzie and Emily who are the sisters from the main character in the previous novel. At Bleakdale Mill the sisters are treated harshly and unfairly but will the mill ever change? Find out in this heart-warming novel full of love, despair and friendship. I really, really enjoyed this read and would recommend it to anyone who has read Street Child as you will probably have been wondering what happened to Jim Jarvis' sisters. There are some quite upsetting scenes in this book but it's a very worthwhile novel as it really brings to life how hard things would have been in Victorian London.
