I really enjoyed this book. It has many plot twists, and it shows you how scary things were in the Blitz. I liked Betty, she was protective of her family and wanted to stay behind just to look after her parents.

It was a bit scary. I liked that there were cats, gigantic gardens, the sound of one of the protagonist (lady). I liked the girl, but it must have been scaring for the girl to be evacuated because of the bombing. I thought it was also sad when she left the cat.

I thought it was a fiction book. If it was a fiction book I would like Smoky because he was being cheeky. I would recommend this book to Katie because she would know what Smoky did cheeky.

This book is about Betty who is an evaquee during the WWII. Mum and Dad are eager to get Betty of to safety. But Betty has only one problem. Her cat. The government have asked for all animals to be killed (put down) instead of being killed in the war. But Betty can't decide which option to take, either risk him being killed by mum and dad or find a way to get him to the country with her. What will happen?
