Knight in Training: Dragons Can't Swim: Book 1
Vivian French, David Melling
A funny, exciting series for younger readers, by the bestselling Vivian French and David Melling.
Sam J. Butterbiggins’ only ambition is to be a Very Noble Knight, but he has a problem – he’s been packed off to the castle next door to stay with his aunt and uncle while his parents are away. Not only does he have to put up with his annoying cousin Prune, there are also the weird creatures his aunt looks after in her Luxury Accommodation for Dragons, Griffins and other Regal Beasts to contend with!
But when Godfrey the dragon gets stuck down a well, Sam and Prune have to work together to come to the rescue. Inside the well they make an incredible discovery – a scroll giving instructions on the six quests to be completed in order to become the perfect knight! Sam’s ambition seems close at hand – if only Prune would stop getting in the way…

I would recommend this book to someone else and my favourite characters were Sam and Prunella and I liked it when they had multiple attempts at fishing Godfrey out of the well.
Mademoiselle Heroica Spaceship 29.08.2023

My thoughts were will he ever manage it with Prune as he was left alone with his uncle and aunt. I liked Sam’s doodlebird as he is very smart. Yes, I would recomend it to people aged 7+.

Dame Phoenix Mouse 18.07.2023

I really enjoyed this book because it was really funny and enjoyable to read. My best bit was when they tried to save the dragon with rope and ran into the king. I am looking forward to reading more of these books.
Lord Binky Pawprint 15.07.2023

It’s about when a little boy found that dragons can’t swim because he found a little dragon in the water that was going’s up and down because he couldn’t breathe. This shows that the writer is trying for the reader to feel sorry for the little dragon and the boy that was lost.
Senorita Agnetha Waxwork 13.07.2023

It was about a child who wanted to be a very noble knight or whatever.
Esquire Jazzy Tyrannosaurus 02.01.2023

I liked how Princess Prunella kept being "it's your fault!" and how Sam kept jumping downstairs 3 by 3 and he had to do an idea to get to breakfast quick enough because there was a bell, and he thought to jump out of the window with a parachute and he thought to do jumping the stairs 6 by 6, but then he thought he should do 3 by 3.

Because I love dragons and I would give it 10 out of 10.

I only read this book because we were on holiday and I'd already read all my other books. This was my little brothers book - it was a cute read but a bit young for me.
