‘Grace looked directly at the seal pup and spoke softly to it. ’I’ll be back soon. Don’t give up.’

Grace is excited about her holiday, staying with Granny at her house by the sea. A whole week exploring rock pools, collecting shells, and playing on the beach – perhaps she might even get to see a baby seal?

Grace makes friends with local boy Col who knows all the secrets of the Island. When Grace discovers a small seal pup, separated from its mother after a storm, she’s not sure if she can help it, but she has to try . . .

Beautifully illustrated in black and white, this is a heart-warming tale of friendship and discovery in the wild outdoors by the author of Tilly’s Moonlight Fox..

This was a really good book! I loved how it was set at a beach as anyone who has ever visited a beach can really relate to it! I really liked the storyline and the characters- my favourite character was Grace as she was caring, brave and kind. I loved the friendship between her and Col! There were a few emotional parts in the story but overall it was a really good book and I would definitely recommend!

I liked the point where Grace, the main character, found a seal pup stranded on the the rocks by her Grannie's house. She went to tell someone but by the time she came back it was high tide and the seal pup had been washed away! That night Grace saw the seal pup and her mother, and they were singing to her.
