In Book 5 of the Maisie Hitchins series, Maisie is intrigued by a new lodger, Mr Fred Grange, who isn’t quite what he seems… Mr Grange claims to work as a clerk for a biscuit company, but he’s out and about on the London streets at odd hours, and Maisie soon discovers something very precious hidden in his rooms. Determined to unmask him as a thief, she soon discovers that the truth is far more complicated – and dangerous. Before long, Maisie and her friends are led into a web of mystery lurking underground…

It was good because it was Maisie's first time going on an underground. When they got home there was someone wanting to get a room but it turned out he was someone from the sparrow gang.

I would recommend this book to children who want to be detectives because this book is all about mysterious and bad art thieves, and detective work. Maisie wants to be a detective like Gilbert Carrington. She thinks there is a lot of undiscovered mysteries on the streets of Victorian London. This book is also quite a laugh through the reading.

This book was a very clever mystery for Maisie to solve where she catches a true criminal red handed. Awesome case for an awesome detective.
