Earth Friends: Maya's Secret
Holly Webb
The first of four fabulous books for 9+ readers about friendship in an environmentally challenged world. Researching her school project on fair-trade has been a real eye-opener for Maya. She loves clothes and is appalled to find that her favourite sparkly t-shirts are made by poor children in other countries, who lead lives very different from her own, privileged one. She knows she must do something about it, but how can she make a difference without revealing her pop star secret to the world?
Reviews

I liked this book so much that I have actually read it more than once! My favourite character is Izzy because at the beginning she isn't so sure of herself but at the end she fits right in with the others. I like how Maya's secret isn't what you would expect it to be like for example she was moving houses at the end of the month or her Grandma had died when she was little, not: her mum was a famous singer (India Kell)

This is a great book because in the end, when Maya’s friends find out her secret they’re not actually angry like she thought they would be, in fact they’re amazed!!

I thought it was very enjoyable. My thoughts were that it was a bit funny. It was fiction. My favourite characters were Izzy and Maya. It wasn't really factual. It interested me because it talked about awareness. I would recommend this book to some of my friends.
Empress Angel Fascination 30.07.2022

I like this book because while it is fiction it also teaches you about earth pollution, and child labour. Very good book!
Duchess Sapphire Fascination 26.07.2022

My favourite person was Izzy because she reminded me of myself. She was shy and timid at the start but when I got further into the book I realised that she was smarter than she looked.

I loved this book because all four girls arrange a fashion show to raise money for a good cause. I liked Izzy best because even when she is bullied, she still is strong. I would 100% recommend to people who like the environment and making sure our clothes and food are fairtrade.
