A collection of (mainly) grisly beasts out for human blood, ranging from Crocky-Wock the crocodile to Sting-A-Ling the scorpion. Described in verse with all Dahl’s usual gusto and illustrated in a suitably wicked style by Quentin Blake.

Was that CROCKY-WOCK galumphing up the stairs?
Is STING-A-LING hiding in your bed?
And what foul fate has PIGGY planned for Farmer Bland?

WARNING! This book contains wickedly funny verse, prickly surprises and the most despicable creatures you could ever hope (not) to meet.

I love this book because this book is about beasts and it is a poem. It was a fiction book and I liked the lion. I would recommend it to my friends.

It's all about different stories. Most of them are about animals apart from the last story. The last one is my favourite because the ending is funny when the mummy faints on the floor. I would recommend it to people who like Roald Dahl.

I enjoyed this because it is by Roald Dahl and I like his books, but it was lots of short stories that were like tongue twisters and we didn’t realise

This book had funny poems about beasts, they were really funny because animals that are herbivores eat people like the poem about the Pig. He realises people eat pork, bacon and sausages so when the same comes along the pig eats him. My favourite poem in the book was the Anteater, there was a boy who always got what he wanted, he asked for an Anteater. When his Aunt came to visit because Americans pronounce the word Aunt like Ant the Anterter thought he was meant to eat her. It was very funny

I found this book to be very funny. I loved the bit with the roly poly bird (he seems to be popping up in lots of books). I think Roald Dahl is a very clever writer.
