I thought this book was really really good. I liked how Gerda travelled to find Kai her friend and to save him. I would recommend it.

I did not expect the book to be like that because I thought that it would have much more detail and more interesting events in the middle of the book. However I did enjoy reading this book.

This book contains 7 wonderfully different tales, which come and fit perfectly together to create and solve the mysteries of this fantasy. The first story holds a tale of mystery, where it begun as the devil made a special mirror that changes good to bad and bad to good; the devil was so proud but what made him more pleased was when his goblins accidentally dropped it over the city, spreading its evil across the city. The second tale is about how a boy called Kai, who was a victim of the shattering mirror, was taken out of the city by the snow queen and as the two flew high in the sky her kisses made him forget about his loved ones (Gerda and Grandmother). In the next story, which is third, when Kai doesn't return Gerda is worried and after she is told he died she goes on a quest to find him. She gets taken by the river to small, where an old witch, who wanted Gerda to stay and wads erasing her memory of Kai, lived. The fourth magical world is a story that tells us about Gerda continuing her journey after she meets a crow, who provides her with a story about a castle that might lead her to Kai but when she attempts to find himshe reaches a dead end and leaves to continue. The story after ( the Fifth - called The Little Bandit Girl) contains a tale of fear and hope because Gerda was riding along the path when she got captured by a bandit girl, who took Gerda to her bedroom that she shares with her pets. Her pet pigeon knew about Kai and the snow queen and provided Gerda with the information that they may have gone to Lapland so she went off on the bandits' reindeer. The sixth story is called The Sami Woman and the Finnish Woman and Gerda discovers a small house Where the Sami Woman lived. She told them to go to the Finnish Woman , who told the reindeer to bring Gerda to the palace and leave her by a bush. When the reindeer leaves Gerda gathers up the energy to run to the palace but notices mis-shapen snowflakes chasing her and as her icy breath makes angel warriors they fight off the snowflakes. In the final story the Snow Queen leaves Kai in her palace and goes on a trip. Gerda rushed in and hugged Kai but he sat there stiffly and as Gerda wept her tears and kisses healed him. They then travelled back together hand in hand using the help of Gerda's newly-found friends, who brought them home safely. I would recommend this book as all of the stories included in the book provide a powerful, yet simple message which is to believe in friendship and persevere.
