Mum’s 30th birthday is coming up and after such a hectic year for the Butterfields, Mattie wants to make it extra-special.
Aided by best friend Lucinda, Mattie decides a talent show to showcase the Butterfields’ unique skills will be the best birthday surprise for Mum. With a host of unruly Butterfields and Lucinda’s parents coming to watch, however, have Mattie and Lucinda bitten off more than they can chew?

It is fiction. I recommend it for car journeys for 6 plus age. I liked that they threw a party for a mum. It is a good book.

My favourite characters were matt and V. It was very cute because it had a dog in it. My favourite part was the variety show. I would recommend this book to someone else as this is my favourite book so far.

It was a nice surprise for Mattie’s Mum and everyone in the family joined in. My favourite character was Mattie because she organised the talent show. I recommend this book to anyone aged 7-10

I liked this book because the talent show was very popular as thousands of people came. I liked Mattie but then baby Will came and now I like him best. I definitely will recommend this to somebody.

I liked the part where Mattie organised a variety show for her mum’s birthday. Mattie is my favourite character in the book because she makes everyone laugh. I would recommend this book to others.

This book is about a girl called Mattie. It is nearly her mum's birthday and she can't decide what to do...then she thinks of a Talent Show. Mattie and her friend Lucinda auditioned people and some get confused and it goes all wrong. Will it all go right on the big day? Does her mum enjoy her birthday and the show? My favourite bit is at the end when Mattie's gran gets her ticket ready for Lotto and she says 'she is in for a good chance'. Boys and girls who are 5 to 10 years old will like this fantastic book because it is a really happy story and it encourages you to keep on going and to never give up.
