An imaginative, original and quirky debut by Emma Shevah! ’ … a beautifully written story.’ INDEPENDANT ON SUNDAY ‘Funny, poignant … wise and accessible’ WALL STREET JOURNAL Amber Alessandra Leola Kimiko Miyamoto. As if her name made up for being tiny, half Japanese and half Italian, and starting a new school with a caveman phone. Dream on! But the hardest bit about being Amber is that a part of her is missing. Her dad. He left when she was little and if he isn’t coming back, she’ll have to sort things out another way. And Amber has a big imagination … Gorgeous, rejacketed reissue of critically acclaimed Emma Shevah’s debut, a funny, moving, beautifully written story of a girl coping with her missing dad. Explores themes about the modern-day dysfunctional family: being mixed-race, starting school and finding your individuality. Illustrated with funny and quirky black-and-white doodles.

This is a lovely book about this girl called Amber. She is half Japanese and half Italian but she doesn't have a dad that is because he left when she was six so it has some drama in it. I would recommend this to 8 to 12 year olds.

A great read, it shows how Amber coped with not having a dad with her and how she felt she couldn't fit in but ended up being a school hero. great read!

this book was so interesting. The character I liked best was Amber/Ambra because she was so nice and tried to stay happy for her sister the whole time.

I think other people might enjoy this book, particularly if they have had a similar experience to Amber. I thought it was okay, a little bit funny and a little bit sad, but not really for me. I found I was related to Bella as we are both obsessed with pink!

This book by Emma Shevah really shines to me. As i have read Dara Palmer's major drama, I got a gist on how this book might be. This book is about a girl called Amber, and that her dad leaves her mum and sister Bella when they are small. It is fantastic read from people aged 9+.

This book really is a fantastic read. I think Emma Shevah should write a sequel as it has many unsolved dramas. I have also read: Dara Palmer's Major Drama. 'Dream on amber' is about a a girl who's dad leaves home quite abruptly when she is small. Amber is very good at art and uses it wisely. And in the prologue: 'this is how I feel' she says.

This book really is a great read. Amber's Dad leaves when she is small, and her dad has never been in touch since. Her real name is: Ambra Alessandra Leola Kimiko Myaimoto.
