A Boy Called Hope
Lara Williamson
Since his dad ran off with the lady from the chip shop, Dan Hope’s life has gone a bit topsy-turvy. So Dan decides to sort out his messy, muddled, madcap family, starting with getting his dad back. But as one genius plan after another goes pear-shaped, Dan starts to realize that your real family aren’t always the people you share your name with. Thought-provoking and laugh-out-loud funny, A Boy Called Hope is a bold and astonishingly moving book about family life in all its shapes and sizes.

I liked it because it's such an interesting view of the world and of people and of jumping ahead in thoughts of what might happen. My favourite character was Daniel.

This book is about a boy named Hope, and he has a lot of different dreams that he want s to come true. One of them is that he wants his sister Ninja Grace to go to a university at the North Pole and only come back for 24 hours every year. Secondly, he wants to help Sherlock Homes solve his most daring mystery yet. He has a lot of dreams that he wants to come true, but the one he wants most to come true is, he wants his dad to love him. I think this book is a 4 star because it have a lot of sad scenes that not everybody likes, but however it is a great book and I recommend it to 7-14 years.

I liked the book because the situation that happened to Dan Hope happened to me and there ar funny bits like Charles Scallybones the First (the dog) who eats EVERYTHING (like toy pirates, pirate ships, handbag tassels,etc.). My favourite character was the protagonist, Dan Hope. I would reccomend it to someone else because, although it goes through dark and grim situations like losing your dad and death, it is funny in places.

I really liked this book a lot. The fact that his dad has left him and he is try really hard to get him back, you then know why the book is called 'A boy called Hope'. This book really makes you think and lots of people can relate to this book, because the same situation (vise versa) has happened to them. I encourage you to read this book. It tells you to have hope, but to also get on with your life and cling on to something forever.
