April knows she was found in a dustbin fourteen years ago as a new-born baby. And now she's fairly happily settled with her foster mother, Marion. But she's desperate to recall what happened in the intervening years, and to see if she can find out where she really came from in the first place.

This is a really interesting kind of heart-breaking story about a girl called April, (she was named after the month April because she was born on the 1st of April). I would recommend this book to children ages 11-15. I wouldn't really advise for children younger than 10 to be reading this. Anyway the story is about a girl called April, who as a child when she was at least 1 MINUTE old she got dumped in a DUST BIN!! What kind of mother would do that to her child. April has spent most of her life in different places and houses and with all kinds of children. The first house she went to was this house with this lady called, Auntie Pat. She looked after April for 11 months. Until she was nearly 1. Next she went to this couple, she was OK with them but then something terrible happened. Her 'dad' came back late and they had an argument and he was drunk and one day he left and wouldn't come back. It left her into such a state and she would stop looking after April. Later she slit her wrists and died. She then went to this house where big mo and she was getting bullied so bad by this girl called Pearl. Then one day Pearl went too far and April pushed her. Pearl went down the stairs and hurt herself badly. April then got moved somewhere else. The next house she moved in was a house with realy bad kids. There was this girl called Gina (she was much older than April) who was at least eight years older than her. Gina was really bad and took a shine to April. Gina and April and the rest of the gang would break into houses and rob them but one day they got caught and April got sent off somewhere else. April HATED robbing people but she had no choice. If she didn't do it Gina would probably get mad at her and she would get bullied. They used April because she was really small and she could fit into small places. Later on April got a little bit pally with her teacher, Mrs Bean. And Mrs Bean ended up adopting her. On Aprils fourteenth birthday, she visits all her other past care homes. THE END!!!
