Kat Stephenson is twelve years of age - who turns wild; chops off her hair, dresses like a boy, and sets off to save her family from impending ruin, when she discovers that she has inherited her mother's magical abilities. She is rebellious and very independent and experiments with her magic, to restore her mother's reputation, foil highwaymen, defeat sinister aristocrats and capture true loves for her two older sisters. An excellent adventure story about family and relationships, filled with humour.
