Artemis Fowl and the Opal Deception
Eoin Colfer
Evil pixie, Opal Koboi, is back and she's more dangerous than ever. This time she doesn't just want power over the fairy People - this time she wants the humans too. Captain Holly Short is the only fairy with a hope of stopping her, but as Holly knows, it takes one genius criminal mastermind to fight another. But the 14-year-old genius that Holly is thinking of doesn't even remember that fairies exist. How is she going to convince Artemis Fowl to help her stop Opal? Gold usually does the trick, and this time is should be no different. Or is Artemis changing?
Reviews

Artemis Fowl’s nemesis, Opal Koboi, a power crazed pixie, is being kept in the Argon Clinic. Or at least she was. She has swapped with a clone and set off to destroy the fairies. Artemis Fowl, who has been mind wiped, is shot at with a bio-bomb and and his bodyguard, Butler, saves him just in time, but knocks out himself and Artemis in the process. Artemis is rescued by Captain Holly Short, a fairy police officer. She is an enemy to the People because she is suspected for murdering Julius Root, her commander. Actually, the real culprit is Opal Koboi. When Holly and Artemis escape, Opal boards their ship and informs them that she is working with the humans and is sending down a probe, to find and destroy the fairies. Can they destroy the probe in time? Can they do it even with Captain Kelp on their tail because everyone has gone against Holly?

My favourite character was Commander Root. I'd recommend this book to both children and adults who love fantasy, adventure and mystery.
