The Tale of Pigling Bland was published the year the Beatrix Potter was married and settled down to farming life for good. She had already been keeping pigs and she sketched them for this story, using her own farmyard as the setting. This is a very long book but interesting story. My mum helped me to read it and understand parts of it.

Pigwig was my favourite character because the name is funny. It was a good book about pigs travelling to different places.

My favourite Beatrix Potter, though all of her books are excellent. This one is quite long, almost a novel, not just a short story. Pigling Bland has lots of exciting adventures - not that he wants to, but he tends to get into trouble. He nearly ends up like his Aunts Porcas and Dorcas ('bacon' according to the great Beatrix), but it does have a happy ending for him. Favourite character: the Ship's Cat.
