Update From Essex Libraries (Sue)
Essex Librarians

I’m just loving the Creepy House Summer Reading Challenge and hearing about the fabulous books you’ve been reading. Some of my favourites this year are the Awesome Animals series especially Llama Drama by Rose Impey featuring Farmer Palmer’s llamas! Great fun and the perfect read if you love funny animal stories. I also love alternative fairy tales and the Good Little Wolf by Nadia Shireen is a wickedly funny book that has a very surprising ending. It’s about a little wolf called Rolf who prefers baking cakes to eating people up until he meets the Big Bad Wolf! Keep on telling us about the books you are enjoying for Creepy House, I’m off to the shelves to find some more!
Faerie Tribes is really creepy. There’s a shadow faerie and no one knows where he is. He has a black hood over his face and this red lightning comes out of his fingers. It’s by Paula Harrison abd I want to know if there are more in the series?
Hi Coach Iggy Jamboree – Faerie Tribes does sound really creepy! The good news is that it is a new series. The 2nd title (The Wildwood Arrow) is due out in October
Hey Sue I am reading all those series to I have almost finished Pony Club secrets ( 4 books left!!) and I started Pony club rivals. Stacy Gregg is Great!!!!!
That’s fantatstic – enjoy your horsey summer!
I am reading stacy Gregg!!!
That’s fantastic Queen Heroica Gormenghast, Stacy Gregg has written a lot of pony stories that should keep you reading through the summer. If you would like to read some other great series about ponies you could try Pippa Funnell’s Tilly’s Pony Tails, Belinda Rapley’s Pony Detectives or Janet Rising’s The Pony Whisperer. Keep reading lots of brilliant animal books for the Creepy House challenge, we love hearing about which books you are enjoying.
I READ GHOST STADIUM BY TOM PALMER
Wow Lord Grip Quagmire, football and ghosts, that sounds exciting. If you love football stories you could also try Frankie’s Magic Football written by footballer Frank Lampard, or books by Rob Childs or Dan Freedman. Keep reading those Creepy House books.
I am wondering if anyone else is reading their books in Braille?
Hi Doctor Trigger Slingshot, we are sure there must be other Creepy House readers who are enjoying their books in Braille too. There is some excellent information about obtaining books in Braille from the RNIB on the Creepy House website. You may also like to use audio books as part of the challenge – you could listen to Mr Stink read by the author himself, David Walliams. Please tell us about the books you have enjoyed reading for Creepy House?
