Invisible Fiends

Schools are out and our libraries are full of kids right now signing up to Creepy House – every primary school pupil in Renfrewshire received their special invitation and we are really looking forward to a great reading Challenge! Pictured here is author Barry Hutchison talking to a group at Ferguslie Park Library about his seriously scary Invisible Fiends series…. there is a place called the Darkest Corners where children’s abandoned imaginary friends live and sometimes they come back to scare the children who left them behind. The first one in the series is called “Mr Mumbles” – read it if you dare! You can find out more about Barry at his great website: www.barryhutchison.com

Hello Madam Majorca Heronimus. It really depends on what you are interested in – adventure, scary things, funny stuff, history, animals, magic, real life – there is so much variety. Let me know what kind of things you’re into and I’ll make some suggestions. One complete guess though, for fun – why not try Binny for Short. It’s by Hilary McKay and it’s just lovely, full of funny, quirky little things and a bit of a mystery.
