I thought no one even suspected that I was different to everyone else around me. So far I’d managed to hide my secret, but with each passing day, it was getting harder and harder to do so. Strange to think that this time last year, I’d been the same as everyone else. I went to school, I came home, I did my homework, I played with my friends. Normal stuff. But that was before my accident, before I got this strange new power. A power which is definitely getting trickier to hide. And now I’m in big trouble.
Continued by our winner, Archie Graham, age 6 from Barnsley.
As I was falling I knew it was going to end badly! I had been able to stop the laser beams up until now but I could feel the tell-tale tingle behind my eyes as I tripped over the curb. The laser beams fired out of my eyes and shot upwards catching a low branch. The tree burst into flames, I could only sit and watch as the fire licked higher and caught other trees alight. Soon the whole row was lit up like a beacon on jubilee night! The fire brigade came but they did not have a clue how the fires started. “It’s a bloomin’ mystery to me!” said Fireman Steve “Never seen owt like it!”
The next day I was in very big trouble with the police. They had looked at the CCTV and seen the whole thing. At first they could not believe it but now they were asking some difficult questions. I knew I was in deep trouble. Suddenly the door of the cell opened and a large policeman stepped into the room. “Sarge, we have a big problem down at the Olympic Stadium and no one knows how to put it right”.
I heard the whole problem and had a great idea. “Take me to the stadium and push me over”, I said. They looked at each other, “it just might work”.
The next thing I knew I was being shoved over by a policeman, the tingle began, the lasers shot out and hit the Olympic torch which burst back into light! The whole stadium cheered. The police were so pleased that they let me off and I promised to wear sun glasses from now on!
