Don’t Believe the Fairy Tale by Cathy Cassidy

The coat had come through the post, wrapped in layers of brown paper, addressed in a spidery, unknown handwriting, starred with mismatched stamps. It was dark red velvet, soft as fur, but worn along the seams with age. The hood was lined with silk and the skirt flared out beautifully, swishing softly against Skye’s legs.

The note was in a pocket, a fold of thin, yellowed paper inscribed with spidery handwriting:
Don’t believe the fairy tale, Skye read. The legends are wrong. Not all wolves are bad…
A shiver ran down her spine, and outside the sound of howling echoed through the night…

Cathy Cassidy is the author of the Daizy Star series. Her latest book in the Chocolate Box Girls series, Sweet Honey, is out now.
