The Garbage King
Elizabeth Laird
A gritty, deeply moving story that shows how the human spirit can triumph in the harshest of worlds.
Reviews
This book is about two boys called Dani and Mamo. Mamo lives in Addis Ababa and Dani lives in luxury in Addis Ababa. Their paths cross in unlikely circumstances. Mamo is escaping a life of slavery and Dani is escaping a fierce father. I would recommend this book because it shows how bravery is so important in supporting each other in difficult circumstances.

The Garbage King was an amazing part fiction part factual book based on life in Ethiopia. I have rated the book 5 stars as this book had the essence of it was so Life like that it really griped me. As well as this book rating this book i would also like to recommend this author herself as i do enjoy the two books that i have read by her. I would say that this book is an 8 or 9+ depending on reading skills as this is a book written for older children.

It was good but could be improved. I liked Yohannes the best because he is kind to Mamo. I would recommend it to my class.

This book shoes us just how difficult life on the streets is. This book is emotional and reflects upon how bad life for the poor is.

Others should read this book because it shows how life is for some children in Ethiopia and how lucky we are to actually have a home. I would recommend this book to nine years and above.
